Vale Foodbank

The Vale Foodbank service is up and running – with the aim of helping to feed local people in crisis. It is open 10-12 on Mondays & 4.30-6.30 on Thursdays.

The Foodbank, based at Coastlands Family Church in Barry, will provide food packages for individuals and families that are struggling to put food on the table.

The service runs thanks to food donations from churches, individuals, groups and charities.

For further details contact the Foodbank on 07973 388906, volunteers will be available from 9am-5pm Mon- Fri and until 6.30pm on Thursdays.

For people to be eligible for Emergency Food Boxes which provide three days worth of meals, or bagged food from the distribution centre, they must provide a food voucher.

The vouchers can be obtained from social workers, health care professionals, churches, community organisations, advisory members or elected members.

The Foodbank will then work with the agencies mentioned to address the long-term issues affecting individuals applying for help.

People are given a maximum of three vouchers, to prevent them from becoming dependent on the service.
